2008 EnhanceTV ATOM Award winners announced

MELBOURNE – Monday 27, 2007 – The winners of the 2008 EnhanceTV ATOM Awards were announced on Friday 24 October at a ‘big screen extravaganza’ held at Melbourne’s Regent Theatre.

“We were astounded by the truly inspirational array of productions – across a wide variety of forms – from both students and industry which we received this year as part of the program. To have been ranked as a winner or as a finalist this year was again something of which everyone should rightly have been very proud,” commented Julie-Anne Smith, Executive Officer, ATOM Awards.

Each year, the ATOM Awards recognise excellence in over thirty categories of Film, Television, Animation and Multimedia and celebrate the very best of Australian and New Zealand production.

The 2008 EnhanceTV ATOM Awards program was open to the education and industry sectors, students, production companies, independent filmmakers, educational bodies and educational producers in both countries.

“We encouraged anyone who had produced a short film, documentary, animation, electronic game, educational resource, television program or innovative new media work over the past twelve months to enter. The number of entries was again exceptional, making the judges’ jobs difficult as always. Accolades to everyone for a fabulous display of media,” she concluded.

The 2008 EnhanceTV ATOM Awards program was sponsored by Avid, Adobe Asia Pacific, Victorian Government through the Department of Planning and Community Development, Madman Entertainment, Deakin University, Monash University Faculty of Arts, Encore Magazine, Metro Magazine, Metroscreen, Open Channel, Qpix, SBS, 2Camels, Netagi, Digistore Solutions, Scotch College Melbourne and Overnewton Anglican Community College. The 2008 EnhanceTV ATOM Awards were funded by Screen Australia, South Australian Film Corporation, the New South Wales Film and Television Office and Film Victoria.

The call for 2009 entries opens on December 1, 2008.
